Ökoprofit®

ÖKOPROFIT® is the German acronym for Ecological Project for Integrated Environmental Technology. The project was launched in 2009 by the Office for Economic Development to emphasise the City of Leipzig's interest in sustainable environmental development and its harmonisation with practical economic requirements. One key element of ÖKOPROFIT® is its overarching joint training programme consisting of 9-10 workshops.

Parallel to these workshops, ÖKOPROFIT® experts use state-of-the-art analysis techniques such as computer-based materials flow management and process analyses in order to reveal savings that can be made by participating companies. In conjunction with those in charge of the company and the environmental team, ecological and economic improvements are drafted which in some cases can be implemented quickly (i.e. while the programme is still underway).

In Saxony, two ÖKOPROFIT® projects have so far been carried out very successfully in Dresden and the rural district of Löbau-Zittau.

The project has been granted funding by the government of Saxony while the companies involved also contribute financially.

The results of the companies taking part in ÖKOPROFIT® are assessed locally by an independent committee. If the findings are satisfactory, the companies are awarded an ÖKOPROFIT® Seal of Approval.
